We’re honored to feature one of our long-standing Gibraltar team members, Deborah Muldbakken, as part of this installment of Get to Know Gibraltar. Deb has a long, rich history with Gibraltar and has often been considered the embodiment of Gibraltar’s strong culture and values.
Tell us about your history with and career development at Gibraltar.
My history with Gibraltar goes all the way back to Gibraltar Business Capital’s predecessor company when I was working for a client at the time. My interactions were so positive that when I had the opportunity to join the Gibraltar team, I did. My role initially covered various functions including client relations, due diligence, day-to-day accounting, office management and IT. As the company has grown, legal due diligence and documentation have become the focus of my responsibilities. And I’ve earned a degree in legal studies along the way. Gibraltar’s continued growth has spurred another evolution of responsibilities for me. I will now be spending more time supporting our credit team to elevate our focus on strong client relationships.
Tell us about something you’ve done recently, working at Gibraltar, that makes you proud.
For years I championed many of our culture initiatives as a member of our culture committee. It has been my passion to fuel a rich and vibrant Gibraltar culture. We recently welcomed new members to our culture committee. It is exciting for me to see new culture ambassadors bringing fresh energy and perspective to our culture initiatives and taking our initiatives to the next level.
What makes GBC unique in your point of view?
Gibraltar is genuinely compassionate and caring. They don’t just talk the talk. And, when I say “they” I’m referring to everyone.
What do you find most rewarding about working at GBC?
The people. You would be hard pressed to find a better group of individuals to work with.
How do you enjoy spending your time outside of work?
I mostly enjoy spending time with loved ones and having new experiences. I especially enjoy sharing laughs with friends and family. Plus, I’m all in for activities involving adventure and those that allow me to express my creativity. Some days, however, curling up with a good book is optimal. Other days I want to reorganize and redecorate the house (inside and out). I especially love the design and shopping aspect of redecorating. I also love gardening and taking quiet time to observe nature.
What are you looking forward to this year?
I am looking forward to getting outdoors more and seeing people smile in person. The world could use more kindness, and for me, it often starts with a smile.
