Agnes Falconer has been with Gibraltar Business Capital for 11 years, steadily learning and filling new roles. She started as a collateral analyst, then became a department manager, an account executive and now our Vice President of Operations. Agnes shared more about who she is, how she views Gibraltar’s opportunities and what get’s her excited about her work here.
What opportunities do you see for GBC on the horizon?
I’m really excited to see such great opportunities for future growth! I’ve been here for a while and today there’s more energy and enthusiasm than ever before for the future of our company. We restructured our business model to focus on credit facilities between $2 million and $20 million. This opened the doors to a different type of customer — more mid-market than small-market. We followed up with new, aggressive sales goals and have been achieving them with new sales people, new clients and bigger loans.
In terms of my department, Operations, we’re supporting these efforts by looking for any way we can continue to improve efficiencies. We’re exploring software options that can help mitigate risk as well as enable us all to be more productive.
What makes GBC unique in your point of view?
What really separates us from our competitors is our ability to be flexible and creative when we look at loans. Although, like every lender, we always have to be aware of risk, I truly believe we try harder to accommodate the needs and situations of our borrowers.
We try to go above and beyond with our customer service. All of us make ourselves available whenever our clients need help, right up through the CEO.
What do you find most rewarding about working at GBC?
I really appreciate the chance to grow and learn, with the backing of key people in the company. The CEO supported my growth and took me under his wing early on, and I’ve reported to many different types of people. It feels like a family here.
I’ve had so many opportunities working here. I want to give my team the same kind of support and opportunities I’ve had.
What do you do in your spare time that might surprise your coworkers and clients?
I don’t really talk about it much, but I love to dance! …the kind of dancing you do with a partner. I especially love cumbia and bachata. My family and I will make a dance floor wherever we are, whenever we can.
What are you looking forward to in 2020 and beyond?
I have goals I want to meet and if I set a goal, I try to achieve it. I love problem solving and working hard to level up. Individually and as a team, we have 3 goals for this year that are pretty significant:
- Making our ongoing processes more efficient or automated
- Improving our quality delivery through stronger individual KPIs
- Cross-training across the organization
